Ar tonelico 2 has a boss key

Background: So, some of the old games I played on the Mac Plus as a kid had a “boss key”: some key combo you could hit to make it look like you were working instead of playing around. At a job I had in Chicago, one of my coworkers made a wallpaper image called BUSYBEE.BMP, a screenshot of a bunch of Excel windows, which he’d expose with the handy Windows 2000 “Desktop” button when someone important walked by.

More background: Many visual novels have some button you can press to temporarily hide the UI, so that you can get a better look at the scene or, more likely, of the cute girl character you’re talking to. At one point in the visual novel section of Ar tonelico 2, I was in what was supposedly a karaoke joint, but that didn’t really look like a karaoke joint. I started pushing buttons to see if I could hide the interface and check out the scene, and this came up:

A bogus ad for some potion, suspiciously close to the Final Fantasy tie-in Potion products of a couple years ago. More presses of the Select button summoned up various humorous screens, including this particularly worky-looking one:

So I guess this is supposed to be a kind of boss key, in case you’re at a particularly gal-game-like scene when someone walks in. Since I’ve been playing at the office lately, this might actually come in handy. >_>
