RUSH on Colbert!!

More of my heroes on the Colbert Report; Richard Dawkins was on a while back.

On one hand, it’s too bad that RUSH is still known mainly for what they did over 25 years ago. The jokes about long songs, the choice of Tom Sawyer, the gag with the lyrics to By-Tor and the Snow Dog… RUSH has been touring and recording this whole time, getting better and better. They’ve left every other band from that era in the dust, and they deserve a ton of credit for it.

On the other hand, RUSH was on television. Nearly the whole episode was about them. Of course Colbert’s whole deal is being an oaf, so he had to sneak in the honor subtly: mentioning the number of gold and platinum records they’ve earned, and saying that they’re still touring together after 33 years. Now that people’s interest has been sparked, they can go do their own research and find out how truly great the band is.
