Snakes

The more I think about it, the more I think I like Snakes on a Plane. It’s not my kind of movie at all, and it took me way outside my “comfort zone” (*WARNING: COMFORT ZONE AHEAD*). But it did its thing well, there wasn’t too much cruel violence, and the greater atmosphere of the movie was positive. Most of all, it brought together a crowd of strangers to celebrate absurdity for a couple of hours.

Maybe soon we’ll live on a planet where bad movies know they’re bad, and instead of trying to be good, they indulge their own badness. If you’re going to make a brilliant, nuanced film (like, say, Primer), go ahead. If you’re not, just embrace the baditude and put some snakes on a plane.
