The USA Immigration Guy Was Really Nice

Piroko and I came through Sea-Tac yesterday morning, she on her new visa. We were both pretty apprehensive about her new life in the bristly United States of America.

The immigration line was short; the process was quick; and the officials were helpful, considerate, and friendly. A nice Chinese-Hawaiian guy checked out all of our documents, spoke politely to us in English and Japanese, showed interest in our case, and informed us of all the things we should keep in mind about her residency for the next couple of years.

As we waited for the shuttle train to take us to the main terminal, some fellow traveler ambled up behind us playing a jaunty tune on a harmonica.

Yeah, maybe the USA ain’t so bad.
